Obama vows not to send people to war without cause

How about that headline? Duh. I would hope so! So here's the story.

President Obama spoke to graduates at the U.S. Naval Academy.
"I will only send you into harm's way when it is absolutely necessary, and with the strategy, the well-defined goals, the equipment and the support that you need to get the job done," the president told more than 1,000 graduates during a sun-splashed ceremony at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
It's kind of embarrassing that a president would have to make this pledge explicitly. As if we couldn't assume that the president would exercise this kind of judgement. Considering the poor performance by the previous president, though, we can't.
